Hi, My name is Abby. This website is a way of connecting and helping kids and their families who are dealing with a concussion, just like me. The most important thing to remember is that you are not alone. There are about 300,000 sports-related traumatic brain injuries in the U.S. each year, and most can be classified as concussions*. All concussions are different, some worse than others, but all of them need to be taken seriously. I never thought I’d get one and I never thought that I’d have to stop playing the sports I love. Almost every kid probably thinks that they are indestructible, but when reality sets in you need to take the recovery of a concussion slow and steady so that when you are healthy you can go back to the action thrilled adventures that every kid loves. Now, as I recover, I want to help other kids too.

WHAT WE ARE ABOUT
Welcome to KidsConcussion.com, a website created by a beautiful young girl and her parents after she suffered a concussion playing soccer. Together, they began a long, lonely journey towards recovery with no real idea of how to get there. The purpose of this site is to let families facing similar challenges know that you are not alone. There are other families finding their way and we can each learn by sharing experiences encountered along the way.
Our goal is to provide a place where families can exchange information about how to deal with the effects of a child's concussion. Here, young people can share their story and parents can learn from the experience of others who have faced the uncertainty and frustration that can result from the search for the right treatment or the right doctor. It also is a place to share stories of success and discovery because as one door closes, the chances are that others will open. We hope that you find this site helpful. Believe it or not, there is light at the end of the tunnel and remember that you are not alone.
